OMG 2 box office collections have crossed 60 crore worldwide in its opening weekend.

Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer OMG 2 continues to grow and recover after a lukewarm opening day. The social drama opened in theatres alongside Gadar 2, which affected its opening day collectios. However, favourable reviews and good word of mouth has helped the film recover quite well and it has grown on both the days since, ending its opening weekend on a hopeful note.

As per Sacnilk, OMG 2 earned Rs 17.50 crore net in the domestic market on Sunday, a marked increase from its opening day haul of Rs 10 crore. This takes its opening weekend collection in India to a respectable Rs 43.56 crore. The film has also crossed 60 crores in worldwide gross and is inching towards the 100-crore mark. How the film does in the long run completely depends on its first Monday but the signs are positive.

Despite the clash with Gadar 2, which itself is breaking records at the box office, OMG 2 has done well. The 40-crore plus haul for the opening weekend is a good number considering the film is A-rated and has been mired in controversies since before release. Over the weekend, the film saw a substantial increase in footfalls with the evening shows showing 86% occupancy across India on Sunday. Overall too, the film had 71% occupancy on its third day. If it wasn’t for capacity issues (due to the clash), OMG 2 would have registered much higher numbers.

Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 stars Akshay Kumar as an ambassador of Lord Shiva, who helps a devotee Pankaj Tripathi in his battle against his child’s school. The film, which focuses on the importance of sex education in schools, also stars Yami Gautam, Arun Govil and Pavan Raj Malhotra in pivotal roles. The film has been praised by critics and fans alike.
